Changes at BAD IDEA: Creative Economy

Changes at BAD IDEA: Creative EconomyWhile we continue to hone our new website, here’s the third of the subject areas that we’re going to be covering, following Hot Money and Tomorrow People. Creative Economy is a section that will look at stories across the creative industries in the UK and abroad, including fashion, art, design, advertising, PR, publishing, film, music, digital, video gaming, and events.

With the government putting verbal (if not substantial fiscal) faith in the creative industries as a means of pulling the UK out of recession, the sector is nevertheless plagued with doubts over how it can continue to make money. Issues such as the death of print media, the difficulty of monetising digital content, the attractiveness of the UK as a place to do creative business, new business models and new technologies, and innovative and artistically valid ways of engaging with an audience will all be touched on in the Creative Economy section.

As well as hefty features on all these subjects we’ll be getting key players in the industry as well as Bad Idea contributors to write us blogs. These will be full of informed, insightful, incendiary opinion on how the creative industries need to evolve and respond to the challenges they face.  Creative Economy will have some of the most important stories concerning the business end of the creative industries, and we can’t wait to get started on it. We’re getting ever closer to completion…
