Will Smith And Bosniak Goddess Wife Of Barclays Eminence Chauve Roger Jenkins To Launch Gulfywood Project
The wife of Roger Jenkins, the man at the heart of the contentious Barclays Middle East deal, is to use her Hollywood and Gulf contacts (and hubby’s fat bonus money, which he refuses to disclose) to launch a new film production company.
The Telegraph reports that Diana Jenkin’s film vehicle D Media, and Will Smith’s production company Overbrook Entertainment, are going to join forces to create Red Pearl Pictures, which will distribute independent films to the Middle East:
“D Media, Mrs Jenkins’ existing film business, will jointly own Red Pearl with Overbrook Entertainment, which is backed by Mr Smith and James Lassiter, the producer of films such as I Am Legend and Ali. Red Pearl, which will distribute independent movies as well as Hollywood blockbusters, will open offices in Los Angeles and the Gulf and will be advised by CAA, the leading Hollywood talent agency. Its launch is designed to exploit the rapid growth of the film industry in the Middle East.”
Funny thing is, neither D Media or Red Pearl Pictures have any web presence. Less surprising for Red Pearl, which has just started up, but you would think an “existing film business” would have at least some Google footprint right?
Me thinks the woman who snapped up her banker husband while he was lecturing her at City University London in tax evasion, and later wrote a thrilling thesis called “minimizing withholding taxes in a multinational corporate structure”, has been brought in to this deal for something other than film nous.
As the mystery man himself, Roger Jenkins, said recently in the International Herald Tribune:
“She is my consigliere and counselor… And she knows a lot of people.”
