Um, What the Hell Is This?
Just saw an ad plastered all over Gawker for something called ‘transatlanticism’ (see manifesto above). I’ve just spent the last 25 minutes wandering through the site trying to work out what the hell it’s supposed to mean? It appears to be sponsored by visit Britain – the British tourism body. Whoever’s super-wazzo-brand-networking-PR-web-tech-hub-consultancy has been given the job of concocting this ‘thing’, they have definitely been given A LOT of money. There’s videos of giant dodgy-graff art installations going up all over the US, and a sort of concocted network of artists who I’ve never heard of, like Augie Trautz who writes: “The foggy streets of Britain are full of adversity. Punk rockers going against the grain alongside the Royal Guard, it’s that attitude of rebellion I think makes Britain so special.”
There’s a bunch of incongruous stuff on there about 1st century Queen Boudica as well, as if she’s some how our national hero.
Stay tuned as we investigate…
