Holy Market Uncertainty Batman!

Kudos to the blog VIX And More for noticing this rather odd pattern emerging in the graph plotting the progress of VIX, the Chicago Board Options Exchange Volatility Index that measures the volatility of stocks in the S&P 500 list.

It appears to be taking the form of Gotham’s own troubled vigilante, Batman! Perhaps this is the financial world’s equivalent of that big white beam they shine in the sky to summon him in times of crisis. After the second bailout package plan, it’s good to see they’re starting to think outside the box in order to sort everything out.
