B.I. Chief Photographer in Police Brawl
So some of you may remember the Circle Line Cocktail Party on the London Underground, which celebrated the end of a wonderful era of cider swilling on the trains brought about by BoJo’s drinking ban…
Our chief photographer Seb Meyer was there to document the party at Liverpool St train station. Unfortunately, a phalanx of overly sexed bobbies took a liking to him and bum rushed him out of the station.
Those who’ve been reading the Press Gazette lately may be well aware of the battles raging between professional photographers and the police at the moment, with police forces around the country taking names and photographs of various jobbing snappers at protests and rallies, in what can really only be seen as a bit of systemised intimidation.
Training British police to target working journalists – either through collecting ID information in an intimidating way, or by wrestling them out of public protests – is a bit of a worrying development. Seb had a press pass clearly displayed and was only there to do his job: good on him for jumping back in the fray.
